The American Whitetail Authority hits the Outdoor Channel airwaves in 2011 with a hunting competition series unlike anything else that has come before. Filmed in stunning high definition, The 2010 Bass Pro Shop's AWA Whitetail Pro Series Presented by Ghostblind, highlights the drama, action, glory and heartbreak from 5 Whitetail Pro Series events filmed in the fall of 2010. Four total events (two Northern and two Southern) and a World Championship finale all culminates with the crowning of the new AWA World Champion.
What sets the Bass Pro Shops AWA Whitetail Pro Series apart from all other deer competitions is the use of technologically advanced digital scopes. These scopes give the AWA unprecedented flexibility, enabling the organization to compete beyond state-mandated hunting seasons. When a competitor has a deer in his crosshairs and pulls the trigger, a digital image of what is seen through the scope is recorded. Because competitors use blank cartridges, when the shot is fired there is no bullet and no deer will be harvested. Approximate antler and body size, age class and location of the crosshairs will be saved for later viewing and evaluation by the judges.

The Bass Pro Shops AWA Whitetail Pro Series scoring system rewards hunters who can consistently encounter and make clean shots on multiple, mature whitetail deer. Other factors impacting a contestant’s score are firearm and hunter safety practices, sportsmanship and shot placement.
From the opening day event emanating from Grand Rivers, Kentucky, to the World Championship held in Natchez, Mississippi, Bass Pro Shops AWA Whitetail Pro Series will be there from the opening whistle to the final judging.
